Powerwall 2

It has a built-in inverter to convert stored direct current (DC) into usable AC power for your home. This simplifies the installation process and offers better reliability. It also provides backup power during outages.

With a 13.5 kWh storage capacity, it is suitable for most homes. It is expandable, so you can add additional units as your energy demands increase.

The Tesla Powerwall uses Li-ion NMC battery chemistry, which is able to perform reliably in harsh climate conditions and diverse seasons. Powerwall 3

The Powerwall 3 is a more advanced battery storage option that offers more power and scalability. However, the Powerwall 3 isn’t fully optimized for off-grid applications in Australia due to regulatory and technical limitations. Homeowners planning an off-grid setup should consult with a Tesla certified installer to evaluate alternative battery solutions.

Powerwall Pro

The Powerwall Pro offers the same backup capability as the Powerwall 2 but with a higher peak power output to run larger appliances for longer. It is also lighter and has a more simplified design making it easier to install. The Tesla app gives you a clear view of energy use and production while allowing you to optimise for off-peak consumption, energy independence or savings.

It uses lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology which is safer and has a much longer life with deeper discharge capability than older Lithium Ion batteries. The system can also be expanded by adding expansion packs if your energy needs increase over time.

Tesla Powerwall is available in Australia and offers a wide range of capacities from 3 kWh to 14 kWh. Prices for the system vary widely across the country due to local regulations and certified installer rates. EnergySage users have reported quotes from $1,065 to $13,600 for an all-in installation including the battery, inverter, backup gateway and permitting.

Powerwall Flex

With Powerwall Flex, you can keep your home powered during cloudy days and non-solar hours, and off-grid in a grid outage. It’s a smart, cost-effective solution that can be wall or floor mounted indoors or outdoors.

It senses when the grid goes down and automatically begins supplying stored energy, ensuring your lights stay on and your appliances run without interruption. It also features Time-Based Control that optimises storage to make savings by using energy at off-peak rates and buying during peak times.

The 7kWh Powerwall is designed to be used with solar panels and Tesla EV chargers, giving homeowners the flexibility to maximize renewable energy and charge their electric vehicles at a fraction of the cost. However, the Powerwall is not fully optimised for off-grid use in Australia and additional infrastructure would be required to support off-grid functionality. Full off-grid functionality may be introduced with future software updates.
